(Subtitled: “You Thought I Was Through With All Of This Mamavation Business, But The Journey Is Just Beginning . . . And, Yeah, I’m Gonna Keep Talking About It All”)
I learned something this week — something very important.
If I let the real world in my house, I gain weight.
- If I let the stress of moving (potentially) to a new city affect me, I will gain weight.
- If I suddenly have a little boy decide he needs to pop out two more teeth (and in the process, wake up 5 times a night . . for a week), I will gain weight.
- If Mother Nature decides to pop buy for a visit . . . for only the second time since October of 2008, I will gain weight.
Bottom line? I gained around 2 lbs this week.
(sigh.)
The good news is that I didn’t eat badly . . . at ALL! Despite the stress and hormonal carb cravings, I stuck with Dr. Mary’s meal plan. Nary a white, refined, bread-like substance crossed my lips, nor did any chocolatey, sweet goodness. But, lemme tell ya, it was a BATTLE — [pullquote]I had to fight and fight and fight against myself to avoid buying a big ol’ vat of Nutella and a ginormous loaf of French Bread.[/pullquote]
So, yeah — yay for that!
(but. . . um . . . I still want the Nutella . . . and the bread)
The bad news is that I didn’t exercise every day. At. All.
Three times. That was it for the exercise count: two sets of intervals and one round of Wii Bowling (yeah, I know — not the most excruciating workout, but my butt muscles hurt after so I’m counting it!).
The rest of my days was spent cleaning and organizing our house, in anticipation of putting it on the market.
Not a great week. Instead of sticking to the Mamavation schedule and checking in with everybody, I chose to focus on my house and my hormones.
This wont’ be the last time the Real World will stop by my home — full of interruptions, stress, and worry — but, it has to be one of the last times I let the Real World keep me from my goal. It can’t happen again — no WAY do I want to undo everything I accomplished during my 7 weeks as a Mamavation Mom. No way.
