Y’all…. Y’ALL!
This morning — in the wee, cornflower blue and gold hours of the morning — I stepped out, barefoot, onto our back patio.
And the concrete of the patio was COLD!
Ok, so maybe cold is a bit of an overstatement, but the air was cool and crisp, enough to chill a few goosebumps into existence as the slight breeze blew across my arms.
Texas is seeing cooler and cooler temps, dipping low enough that — here in College Station — people have switched to jeans and flip-flops instead of the usual shorts and flip-flops. Jeans — even with flip-flops — is a signal for one thing: cozy comfort food.
I’ve decided it’s high-time I shared another recipe series, so all month long, I am going to focus on comfort food . . . slow cooker comfort food.
I’m not sure what I would do without my slow cookers. They work hard for me, turning simple ingredients into steamy deliciousness . . . and thanks to the way a slow cooker works, I can use cheaper ingredients. It’s a win-win, right?
Here’s the line-up for this Month of Slow-Cooker Recipes:
Slow Cooker Creole Beans and Rice
Slow Cooker Chicken Cordon Bleu
Slow Cooker Pho (Vietnamese Noodle Soup)
Slow Cooker Pumpkin Butter
Anyone’s tummies grumbling yet? Yeah, can’t help you with that today . . . just stay tuned to get these recipes as they are posted during October!
