Revisiting Food Porn {Menu-Planning Monday}

in Meal Planning

It doesn’t take much to make this Mama hungry: the smell of baking bread, the sound of onion and garlic sizzling on the stove, or luscious food porn.

Looking at these colorful foodie photos, I’m left wanting two thing: (1) whatever gorgeous dish the picture captures and (2) the camera used to take the pic.

Mainly, I want the food.

This weekend, I spent more than a few hours drooling over the luscious pics and recipes at The Smitten Kitchen and Simply Recipes.  The Smitten Kitchen is an adorable blog, written by an equally adorable Mama who like to eat.  She has a knack for recreating her favorite dishes and humorously sharing them on her blog.

Oh, yeah — and her pictures are pretty too!

Simply Recipes also has beautiful food pictures and has won many accolades for her amazing recipes — her site has been called “great resource for cooks.” From this “non-cook” cook’s perspective, I’d have to agree.

Thanks to the lovely photos these ladies use on their respective food blogs, I had a hard time narrowing down my menu for the week.  But, in the end, I managed to come up with four new recipes . . . each one simple but promising on the flavor scale!

Monday:

Turkey Tacos, My Black Bean and Mango Salsa, Baked Whole Wheat Tortilla Chips

Tuesday:

Grilled Shrimp, Chickpea Salad with Roasted Red Peppers

Wednesday:

Mushroom Marsala Pasta with Artichokes, Spinach Salad

Thursday:

Grilled Chicken with Tomato Tarragon Sauce, Whole Wheat Pasta, Spinach Salad

Friday:

Shaved Asparagus Pizza {tweaked to add feta and mushrooms . . . and maybe grilling it!}, Spinach Salad

Saturday & Sunday:

LEFTOVERS!

Dude. I want that pizza! I’ll have to try asparagus as a pizza topping (broccoli is my absolute fave!). Everything looks scrumptious!

Wow, I wish I was eating dinner at your house this week! Those all look so amazing! I’m inspired to try the Asparagus Pizza. We enjoy asparagus around her but get tired of always steaming or roasting it.

You seriously cook like this every week? I am in awe.

*hiding your site from my family in case they get suspicious that maybe all families don’t eat chicken five nights a week*
