Yesterday, a friend and I left the bustling metropolis of College Station and took a field trip over the river and through the woods to visit a Houston area Trader Joe’s.
It doesn’t matter how many times I visit that store, I am always a giddy kid as soon as I walk in.
LOOK AT ALL THE FOODS. I NEED ALL THE FOOOOOOODS.
Cookie butter, Fleur de Sal Caramels, Buffalo Jerky, Frozen Macarons, Sesame Honey Cashews … it doesn’t matter if it is good for me or NOT (and, let’s be honest, the majority of the fun finds in TJ’s really aren’t healthy. Just sayin’.), I walk through the sliding doors and I want it ALL.
And, yesterday? I wanted all things PUMPKIN. Holy cow, people — Trader Joe’s has EVERYTHING you could possibly ever want in the pumpkin realm. Pumpkin Cream Cheese. Pumpkin Ravioli. Pumpkin Bread. Pumpkin Cookies and Crackers and Candies … Oh, MY!
The only thing that made its way into my cart was the box of Pumpkin Macarons. Yes, so much sugar but gluten-free. That’s how I justified it in my brain.
Side-note: never, ever, ever go to Trader Joe’s when you are hungry. It is very, very, very unwise. True story.
The Husband continues to be happy with his Pumpkin Pie Spice creamer … the only Pumpkin-centric item he ever wants or needs in the fall.
Me? I’ve resisted. If it isn’t October, I can’t do Pumpkins — not yet.
But … BUT. Now that it is October, I can fully get behind the Pumpkin Everything mentality that all grocery stores and Pinterest embrace this time of year. And, I’m not just a fan of pumpkin flavored coffee, baked goods and treats … I love pumpkin chili and soup and, at least back in my “pre-grain” free days, pumpkin pasta dishes. Oh, Mamacita! “Bring it all to the table” is my mantra — hence, the Ultimate Pumpkin Recipe List you see today.
There’s a little something for everyone: appetizers, breakfast recipes, soups, pastas, roasted seeds, and even a variety of gluten-free recipes for those who need them. And, for after you’ve made a few recipes and have leftover pumpkin puree sitting around? There’s a post for that: Using Up The Leftovers (recipes for just about ANY small amount of leftover puree!).
Tie on the apron, folks … Pumpkin Season is most definitely here!
