A few weeks ago, we spent the morning at the Houston Zoo.
It was beautiful — crisp and sunny.
The flamingos were out and showing off their their shrimp tinted plumage.
And, the newest member of the zoo, three week old Baby Tupelo, was also out and about — playing with Baby Baylor, who was born at the zoo during May.
Wrinkled, hairy, aggressive, the older Baylor bullied little Tupulo — pushing him all over the dusty dirt yard — until Tupulo’s Mama stepped in.
Trunk blaring with a warning call that caught the attention of every human watching the elephants, Tupulo’s Mama intervened, drawing her new baby close while Baylor’s Mom put him in a “Time Out,” segregating him from the rest of the herd.
Even in the wild, bullying isn’t cool.
