As much as the Little Lady is turning into a Diva, with her obsessive love for all things pink and sparkly, she still is very a Nature Girl at heart. And a Science Girl. And an Explorer Girl. And her new kaleidoscope helps her be all of those things.
Last month, we received a gorgeous wooden kaleidoscope from Kaleidoscopes To You, and the Little Lady has been nothing short of entranced with it. She has spent hours — both indoors and out — using it to view her world in a completely new way.
Well, technically, it’s a teleidoscope . . . a term we didn’t know before receiving the toy but it didn’t take long for Mama the Little Lady to realize teleidoscopes are cool.
What’s a Teleidoscope?
Unlike kaleidoscopes, which show us prisms of color thanks to little items inside the instrument, teleidoscopes let you see the world AROUND you in “kaleidoscope” form.

Let me show you a few pictures I took this weekend and you’ll see the difference between a kaleidoscope and the (I have to say it again — very, very cool) teleidoscope.
(and, yes, I worked very hard to get my camera to take pictures through the teleidoscope — it wasn’t easy!)

Playing with the teleidoscope never gets old — even my husband and father-in-law had to play around with it this weekend. It’s fascinating to see commonplace objects — flowers, homes, lights — through the teleidoscope.
Or . . . a husband.
The Hubby -- who, like any good boy, let me point both a camera and a teleidoscope at him. Without complaint.
