Be. Still. My. Heart.
Mama has a new favorite grocery store.
And, it is two-hours away. Which, come to think of it, is probably a good thing … since otherwise I’d go broke shopping there.
Saturday, as part of a kid-free afternoon date, the Husband and I spent time in Austin, TX. The Foodie Capital, so they say.
In addition to dining at a Top-Chef Contestant restaurant, we hung out at the Whole Foods Flagship store and Austin’s Central Market.
Now, I’ve heard lots and lots of folks ooh and ahh over the Whole Foods Flagship. And, sure, it was cool … especially if you aren’t someone who likes to cook. They have amazing cafes, bars, and plenty of drool-worthy, ready-made meals for the taking inside that impressive structure.
BUT … if you geek out on hard to find ingredients, local and imported butters, and fruit you’ve only ever read about …then Central Market is your grocery store. It’s the chef and home-cook’s Mother Ship.
I walked around that store, jaw dropping at every turn, squealing over the discovery of exotic spices I’ve never been able to find in our little town, and shamelessly taking pictures of Octopus, Easter Egg Radishes, and the twelve different varieties of Pears.
A date spent at grocery stores??? My man knows me so well!
