Bluebonnet pictures. The “must have” for every Texas Mama.
Even a transplant Texan like me.
You drive and drive and drive — searching for the perfect patch. The prime picture taking scene.
And, then, you find it — hundreds and hundreds of bright blue petals dotting the green grass.
It’s a sign that the time has come. So you quickly pull over, ignoring the cars and semi-trucks barreling down the highway at 75 miles per hour, and get your kids “picture ready.”
But you, once again, failed to plan for one thing. . . . kids aren’t as predictable as bluebonnets. They won’t sit serenely still, waiting while you zoom in and zoom out . . . while you focus . . . while you reposition yourself for better lighting.
No, kids get up. Make faces. And run away.
Sigh . . . maybe next year will be the perfect bluebonnet year.
Maybe.
