The Dark Side of Baking Bread {Mamavation Update}

The Food Front

This past week, I began channeling my inner pioneer and made bread.

When?

Like . . . every day.

Every day?

Yes, every day.

Why?

Because we ate a loaf EVERY DAY!

Ye gads, woman!

I know, I know.

(sigh)

Oy Vey.

Bread — my vice and my desire.  I did well the first day, using it only for my morning breakfast slice.  But, the 2nd and 3rd and 4th and 5th days?  Yeah, I wasn’t strong didn’t let myself be strong.

Granted, it was whole wheat bread . . . with flax . . . and buckwheat honey instead of the original brown sugar.

Does that make it better?  Healthier?

(sigh)  Probably not.

Well, then on to other news.

The Weight Front

Guess what?  I can’t read my scale; last week, I thought I was down a pound.  I WAS DOWN TWO FREAKIN’ POUNDS!  TUH-OO POUNDS!

This week?  I’m down a pound . . . to 197.

That’s pre-pregnancy weight, if anyone’s curious.

How 'bout those blisters? Thank you, flip flops at Sea World!

Total weight loss since December? 23 pounds!!!!

Just as exciting, I think I’ve lost inches.  I haven’t measured yet, but this week I was able to wear pre-pregnancy jeans AND a pre-pregnancy skirt.  Even though I’m not yet at my desired weight, I felt GOOD knowing I could wear those two items.

The Exercise Front

Hubby and I joined our local YMCA this week.  I love, love, LOVE our “Y.”  Thanks to their free child-care, I can exercise up to two hours a day!  (Can I get a “Woot-woot?”)

We both met with trainers and had a weight-lifting routine set for each of us.  I also took a Pilates class!  (umm, by the way, Pilates is HARD!)

I kept up with my daily intervals on my Smooth Fitness treadmill; since I have a treadmill, I am using the Y’s classes and their Elliptical machines for additional cardio.

This Week’s Goals

I’m keeping things simple this week:

  • Keep attending Pilates classes and add Zumba and Kickboxing.
  • Stop eating a loaf of bread a day

p.s.  GOOD LUCK to our new ladies vying to be a Mamavation Mom!!!  I’m cheering each of you on.
