Y’all. It’s nearly here: the Little Lady’s FIRST DAY of KINDERGARTEN!!!!
We’re nervous, excited, and altogether unsure of what to really expect from this new Elementary School World. Yes, “We.” Mama’s emotions are swirling around just as much as the Little Lady’s (if not more).
(I can get through this. I can get through this. I can get through this.)
This past weekend, we enjoyed the first weekend of August by heading out for our first (joint) Back to School shopping trip. It was just us girls, looking for an elusive Plastic Yellow Folder (the one school supply list item that required a multi-week and multi-state search to find) and hoping to find a few “big girl” items to add to the Little Lady’s wardrobe.
A few minutes after we walked into Old Navy, I realized something very profound. My daughter — my wee, doe-eyed little girl — can turn into a tiger when entering a fashion scene.
She tip-toed through the tall racks of jeans and shirts and scarves, pouncing on twirly dresses and sparkly shoes.
OH, the shoes! I discovered the Little Lady sharp eye can spot a pair of shoes from ten paces, and her high-pitched cries alerted me over and over and over again each time she found a pair worthy of adorning her feet.
She’s A Natural Born Hunter.
(albeit, a little shy when the camera comes out)
I also learned that my (usually) sweet girl has no problem saying a very emphatic NO WAY when our fashion sense doesn’t exactly line up. Yes, it has begun. The Little Lady has an opinion.
(although, why was I surprised?)
Thankfully for the sake of our relationship, Old Navy had plenty of options upon which we could both agree.
Including a very maroon, Aggie-Hello Kitty t-shirt. The very epitome of the Little Lady’s style.
Multiply Your Style {#myONstyle}
Old Navy has been a staple for back-to-school shopping for YEARS … not to date myself or anything but even *I* remember walking through those glass doors to find a perfect “First Day” outfit.
As kids and parents spend the next few weeks taking advantage of sales and Tax-Free weekends, Old Navy is working to make the experience of establishing one’s style just a wee bit more fun.
- Now through August 14th, Old Navy is inviting parents to come by stores and take a picture of their kids rocking their favorite Old Navy back to school looks in front of the store’s Step and Repeat!
- Then, share the pic via instagram or twitter using the hashtag #myONstyle. Old Navy will share the pics on the official #myOnstyle site!!
- After you upload your photo, enter to the Multiply Your Sweet Style here: www.nick.com/OldNavy! It includes an Old Navy $1000 shopping spree, $500 cash to play in L.A and a shopping experience with Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande from Nickelodeon’s Sam and Cat!”
disclosure: I partnered with Burst Media to share information about #myONStyle and was compensated for my time and shopping experience.
p.s. After our clothes shopping adventure, we found a yellow folder!!!!! School shopping is officially over!!!
