Tips For Going Sugar-Free and/or Grain-Free #OneSmallChange

While I underwent a dietary change for my own health benefit, I have been compensated by Puritan’s Pride for this particular post.  All opinions expressed here are my own.

I’ve been officially grain-free for over a month now.  Yes, my little experiment — or a drastic one from my husband’s point of view — with curbing my sweet tooth has turned into a major life change.

I’m grain-free and happy.  It was a small change — one accomplished through baby steps during my sugar detox — that has morphed into a new way of running through life.

Several people — family, friends, and readers — have asked a lot of questions, wanting to know both the why and the how behind going through a sugar detox and becoming grain-free.  Some questions — such as the one my Mother has been asking about recipes, favorite products, and cookbooks — will be answered at another time.

But, today, I want to address the big questions of “Why” and “How” was I able to make such a radical change.  Hellloooo????  I’m the Queen of Sweet Teeth!  How could I cut sugar????

The Answers

As I state in the vlog I’m sharing today, making any change (big or small) takes three things:

  1. A Plan
    • An action plan for the beginning and the tough times will ensure you can deal with the temptations of a cookie, or a cigarette, or sleeping in instead of going for a walk, or whatever lifestyle change you are making.
  2. A Partner or Cheerleader
    • A spouse, family member or good friend needs to be on your team; do they need to make the change with you?  Not necessarily, but you need SOMEONE on your side to both encourage you and help you stay strong during weak moments.
  3. Grace for Yourself
    • Recognize that mistakes can (and probably will) happen but those mistakes don’t equal failure!  They are simply little blips on your journey to a healthier you.  Don’t let those mishaps or little backslides become excuses to give up or reasons to think of yourself poorly.  You can STILL move forward with your change!

What Change Can You Make?

There isn’t a person on the planet that doesn’t have some little area of life that doesn’t need improvement.  Maybe you need to get more sleep … or eat more vegetables … or work on remembering to take your vitamins.

Making one small change in your health habits can reap big rewards. Pledge on the Puritan’s Pride Facebook page to make one small change today. This your final chance to enter to win $2,000 plus prizes from Puritan’s Pride to help you stick to your pledge.
