My New Favorite Countertop Appliance: The Ninja Ultimate Blender

Ninja Ultimate Blender honest review

There aren’t many appliances or kitchen gadgets that I don’t have.   I’ve been blessed with a family who knows I love spending time cooking, so I find myself unwrapping pots, pans, measuring cups, lime squeezers, and the like for nearly every gift occassion.   Even my husband, who gets teased at work for giving me cooking tools, knows to just head to the kitchen aisles for gift ideas.

This birthday?  He gave me a Spiralizer.  It’s awesome.  More about that later.

But there was one item that I did NOT have: a blender.

Well, scratch that.  We had a baby blender — one of those “As Seen On TV” blenders that my husband purchased 7 years ago at a family auction.  Yeah.  It’s glamorous.

A big blender that could puree my homemade nut butters and grain-free batters in a flash was no where to be found in my kitchen.  A powerful blender that could break through rock-hard ice and frozen fruits?  Where was it in my “wanna-be” cook’s kitchen?

It was missing … until I was sent the Ninja Ultimate Blender (BL810 model) to review.

{Cue the angels singing the Hallelujah Chorus.}

Features

  • 2.5 Peak Horsepower Motor
  • Dual Stage Blending
  • Total Crushing™ & High Speed Cyclonic Blades
  • PRO Variable Speed
  • 72 ounce canister
  • Speed range works for anything from sauces to juices
  • 2 Single Serve Cups with Sip & Seal™ lids
for personalized drinks on the go

What This Home-Cook Loves

  • Dishwasher Safe: EVERY component of the blender (save the machine base … obviously) is dishwasher safe.  I d-e-s-p-i-s-e hand-washing anything so I was overjoyed to realize I could put everything in my dish-washer.  Woo hoo!
  • Adjustable Speed: you can give your ingredients a nice, gentle blend or you can absolutely pulverize them.  It’s just a matter of turning a dial!
  • Powerful Blades: The blades are awesome — instead of just having your typical three blades at the bottom of the canister, the Ninja Ultimate Blender offers the Total Crushing Total Crushing™ blades that go vertically into the canister, allowing the Ninja to crush through anything and everything you throw in there.  Frozen mangos?  Piece of CAKE.  Plus, those three blades mean your items are going to be consistent…. i.e., everything is broken up or pureed as evenly as you want it.  No half puree and half chunks because not everything reached the bottom blades.  You get perfect purees!
  • No Accidental Messes: The gasket sealed lid that ensures you CANNOT turn the machine on if the lid isn’t on.  No more nightmares of splatters on your ceiling from a Husband forgetting to put the lid on.  (fact: that has NEVER happened in our house.  My husband wanted that to be clear)
  • Separate Drinking Canister, Lid and Blade: I do a lot of Paleo smoothies in the morning for easy breakfasts.  I love that I don’t have to dirty multiple things just for one smoothie.  The smaller, single serve cups fit onto the smaller set of blades work perfectly for fruit smoothies (even frozen fruit).   Then, invert the cup, remove the blades, add the travel lid and you are ready to go!

Cons

  • Noise: the motor is powerful, as are the blades.  This leaves for a rather noisy machine.  NOW, since I’m not using this for hours at a time (like my washing machine), it isn’t that big of a problem for me.  It’s only on for a few seconds at at time because of how quickly it works —  literally seconds to do anything.

Final Thoughts

Is the Ninja Ultimate Blender worth the $259.99 retail price?  I am VERY happy with it and love that it is just as powerful as another popular blender out there but WAY cheaper than that one.  If you are in the market for a professional quality blender and have the budget for it, the Ninja Ultimate Blender is the way to go.  It’s a breeze to clean-up and handles absolutely EVERYTHING.

Where To Buy

There are plenty of purchasing options for Ninja products.  You can find my Ninja Ultimate Blender, model BL810 (other models can be found at different locations — check the Ninja website for details) at the following stores:

  • Ninja Website
  • Target
  • Amazon (technically, the BL830 model but it’s the same Ultimate Blender, same price … the only difference is that you get three of the travel cups/lids instead of two)
