Watch Out, Food. I Will Cut You. {chef knife giveaway CLOSED}

When you have bad knives, you just use them — albeit begrudgingly.  But when you have a few good knives . . . you start kicking yourself for wasting YEARS with bad, horrible, no good knives.

That’s what happens with me every. single. time. I pull out one of my Chicago Cutlery DesignPro Knives.  I shake my head over the garlic or onions or tomatoes I’m chopping, and I wonder “WHY didn’t invest in some good knives sooner?”.

If your are interested in getting new knives, here are some things I really enjoy with the DesignPro Knives:

  • Comfortable Handles

These knives are very easy to hold and the handles, with the contoured edges, fit very easily in my hands and it isn’t painful to use them for large amounts of chopping.  I have rheumatoid arthritis so there are times when my hands are stiff and hurt, but holding these knives hasn’t caused any problems for me.

  • Thumb Guides

See the black dots on the knives in my photo?  Those aren’t there for aesthetic purposes!  The laser-etched dots are placed exactly where your thumbs should be as you use the knives.  Having a correct grip on the knife helps give you better control and better power behind each cut.

  • Weight Balance

These are not light-weight, flimsy knives — there is a heft to them thanks to the Japanese steel.  But, the weight is so well balanced between the blade and the contoured handle, that it is easy to wield them in the kitchen.  Just one more aspect that helps keep the knives comfortable as you use them.
