The day before Barney Kneeknuckles arrived, I headed to a local camera store.
This Mama was GOING to get a new camera.
My old camera was … well, old and starting to get unreliable. I take a lot — no, I mean A LOT of pictures . . . trust me when I say the readers of this blog only see a fraction of the pics I take.
I think photography — along with tweaking pics using my image editing software — has become an addiction. A major addiction. Graphic design, messing around with web design tools and re-working my blog layout used to be my time-waster of choice. But now — it’s photography. Yeah, I could play all day with pictures.
The new camera (Nikon D7000) is beautiful and works like a dream. Hubby used it in the operating room to capture Barney K’s birth … and my drug-induced, glassy-eyed smile that everyone claimed was me “glowing.” Whatever, people — it’s called “good drugs.”
(seriously — for that last picture that was taken in the OR, I remember trying to MAKE myself focus on the camera. Sigh)
Since Barney K’s birth? Um, well, I used the camera to take a couple of pics of the Little Lady on her first day of school.
And those pics are STILL on the camera.
Instead of lugging my beautiful new camera up every time I want to preserve a memory of our life as a family of five, I find myself reaching for my camera phone. It’s just the obvious option when one hand/arm is perpetually wrapped around a wee, warm body.
So, instead of the crisp photos I meant to capture this week. . . I got these:
All in all . . . I love my camera phone. The quick, silly moments of my day are never missed. . . and they can still be tweaked with a photo editor.
Love it. How did we ever live without ’em?
