Last week — I believe it was last week although the way my brain has been lately, it could have been last month — we had a “first ever” occurrence at our home.
ALL The Ladies of Cluckton Abbey laid eggs on the same day.
Cluckton Abbey? That’s the name of the very (not) fancy Coop that houses my Backyard Chickens …. six hens that we started raising when they were only a day old. Those chicks (the Dowager Duchess, Cora, Mary, Edith, Sybil, and Martha (aka Shirley McClaine)) have all grown up into fine, fine ladies and one by one, they have begun laying the most colorful assortment of eggs.
EVER.
Brown eggs, speckled eggs, pale pink eggs, and blue-green eggs. We have ’em all.
And … they’re delicious.
